Alex Cooper

Alex Cooper is from Jackson, Mississippi and began dancing at the age of 3.  She was a company member of Mississippi Metropolitan Ballet in Madison, MS under the direction of Jennifer Beasley.  With MMB she danced in ballets such as the Nutcracker, Don Quixote, The Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast, and competed in competitions all around the South including the Contemporary division of the Youth American Grand Prix in Texas in February of 2006.  She was trained in jazz and lyrical by Eric Kegler, Sharon Howard and Kim Lanier and won numerous titles at competitions such as Star Bound, Tremaine and Company Dance where she won a scholarship to dance with Paula Abdul at Nationals in Orlando, Florida.  Alex was also a member of the Courthouse Gymnastics team from the age of 5 to 13 and an All-Star Varsity Cheerleader at Jackson Academy for four years of high school. 

Alex has a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of the dance team (The Ole Miss Rebelettes) for four years. As a Rebelette, Alex was the captain her senior year and voted “Most Valuable Dancer” by her teammates in both her junior and senior years.  Alex remained at the University of Mississippi and earned a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering.  During her graduate studies she was a member of the professional contemporary dance company Hinge in Oxford, Mississippi.  Alex has taught dance to students of all ages and choreographed for several junior miss contestants.  Alex has been with Studio B for 3 years. She has been married to Chase for 1 year.
